The MTN Business App of the Year Awards 2013 event took place on Tuesday night 27 August 2013, at The Venue in Melrose Arch, and saw SnapScan being awarded the title of Best App of the Year for 2013. The HTML 5 application allows users to pay with mobile phones at participating vendors.
AfriGIS was shortlisted as one of the Top 5 apps, in three categories for the development of the Official Gautrain App; Best Windows App Category, Best Android Consumer App Category & Best BlackBerry App Category. AfriGIS was awarded with the Pick of the Night (Crowd’s Favourite) award in the Consumer app category.

The calibre of entries received this year was truly amazing with 250 entries received overall – the panel of judges certainly did not have an easy task deciding upon a winner,” said Nomalanga Nkosi, general manager of Enterprise Marketing at MTN SA.
