Introduction
AfriGIS is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Senior Project Manager in a technical IT and/or big data environment, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and in budget.
- PMP certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, business management, or related area of study.
- Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Exceptional relationship management skills.
Overall Purpose of Role
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for planning, overseeing and leading multiple large, complex projects from ideation through to completion. This role requires interaction with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead project planning and implementation.
- Facilitate defining project goals, tasks, and resource requirements.
- Resolve conflicts within projects or functional areas.
- Assemble project team for technical or functional development.
- Manage project budget and resource allocation.
- Define service levels and customer requirements.
- Interact with clients to understand needs and improve delivery.
- Quickly grasp business issues and data challenges.
- Identify and communicate required changes to the development team.
- Lead project planning sessions and coordinate internal resources.
- Ensure project progress meets deadlines.
- Oversee all incoming and outgoing project documentation.
- Participate in tender processes (design, submission, review).
- Design risk mitigation plans and conduct project reviews.
- Create detailed reports for executive staff.
- Optimise processes and overall approach as needed.
- Assist in enforcing project deadlines and schedules.
- Communicate and apply project standards.
- Manage resources according to project schedules.
- Consistently deliver high-quality services to clients.
- Understand components of running a fiscally successful project.
