The EY World Entrepreneur Award Programme recognises the most exceptional entrepreneurs: Powerful minds, powerful ideas!
AfriGIS founder members Magnus Rademeyer and Charl Fouché were among a selected group of finalists of the 2015 EY World Entrepreneur Award. Rademeyer and Fouché were part of the Top 3 Finalists in the Emerging Category for Southern Africa, together with Khudusela Pitje, New GX Enviro and Lex van Wyk, Teraco Data Environments.
CJ Kujenga, Strategic Growth Markets Leader for Africa says, “These entrepreneurs have demonstrated that beyond adversity, there is prosperity. The arduous road they have travelled in stoically building their companies is very humbling and inspirational.”
Reflecting on the past 18 years Rademeyer comments “Our customers couldn’t get their problems solved, because in the old days you needed to have data, and then you also needed to have software, so by the time you could sell something to the client – or you tried to solve their problem – there were too many moving parts. So we started moving up the value chain. Today we own the complete value chain.”
EY believe entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of our economy. Africa is tipped for significant growth. In order to achieve this potential the continent needs entrepreneurs who build large organisations with integrity, add value to their markets, develop skills on a large scale and create sustainable jobs.
They celebrate the energy and ideas these award-winning entrepreneurs bring to advance our economies and generate positive change through their World Entrepreneur Award.
As a leader in guiding these entrepreneurs and their companies, they honour and recognise their impact, while encouraging others to follow in their footsteps.
Ajen Sita, CEO for EY Africa says, “In celebrating 18 years of the World Entrepreneur Awards Programme, we have seen diverse examples of high-growth businesses, all of whom have innovated and achieved remarkable feats within their lines of business. This year’s finalists are playing a vital role in creating and sustaining economic growth. As a group they contribute a combined 31,000 jobs to the economy and have grown their businesses by an average of 23% over the last three years – well in excess of GDP growth rates.”
The 2015 EY World Entrepreneur Award for Southern Africa was hosted at a Gala Dinner in Sandton on 3 November 2015. Khudusela Pitje was awarded as winner in the Emerging Category. AfriGIS celebrates Magnus and Charl’s achievement and is proud to be part of our countries’ leading entrepreneurs.
