Charl Fouché appointed to the Advisory Committee of the University of Pretoria’s Geoinformatics programs

(Pretoria, South Africa – Wednesday 22 September 2021)

Charl Fouché, Professional GISc Practitioner and Chief Operations Officer of AfriGIS, has been selected to serve on the Advisory Committee of the University of Pretoria’s Geoinformatics programs.

The University’s BSc Geoinformatics and BSc Hons Geoinformatics programs are accredited by the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC). Charl will play a valuable role in assisting the department to develop and maintain curricula that meet industry requirements and workplace best-practise.

With close to 25 years of experience in the geospatial world, Charl’s expertise and contribution to the industry continues to support the expansion of the GIS industry in South Africa and abroad.

Hein Badenhorst, CEO of AfriGIS: “Charl’s appointment to this role is well-deserved recognition for his expertise and passion for GIS and Geoscience. We are exceptionally proud that his experience and insights will make a significant contribution towards developing the next generation of geospatial data scientists.”

Hein explains that the ICT sector as a whole, remains challenged with a shortage of quality skills and a scarcity of experienced talent: “For senior team members like Charl to be involved with initiatives like these, gives a great sense of honour that we can play a meaningful role in developing young talent with in-demand skills. In this way, AfriGIS and our leadership team can have a tangible impact in moulding tomorrow’s geospatial scientists today.”

Congratulations Charl!
