Junior HR Practitioner

Introduction

We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior HR Practitioner to join our team and support key HR initiatives across the business. The Junior HR Practitioner will play a key role in managing the full employee lifecycle and supporting a positive, compliant, and engaging workplace. This role requires an energetic, people-focused individual. This role is based at our Head Office in Pretoria.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant HR or Industrial Psychology degree
  • 2+ years’ experience in an HR generalist role
  • Solid understanding of South African labour laws and HR best practices
  • Advantageous:
    • Experience in B-BBEE scorecard management and tracking
    • Experience in WSP reporting

Other Proficiencies:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of discretion and integrity
  • A keen eye for detail

Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior HR Practitioner will play a central role in supporting the full spectrum of HR functions. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Support the entire employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career development, and offboarding.
  • Ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new hires, including induction planning and documentation.
  • Coordinate exit interviews and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance and capturing feedback for improvement.

 HR Policy Implementation & Compliance

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring consistent application of policies across departments and guide managers and employees.
  • Stay up to date with labour legislation and ensure HR practices remain compliant.

Employee Relations & Support

  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees on HR-related matters.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture through proactive engagement.

Training & Development

  • Coordinate training and development initiatives.
  • Track and report on training attendance, effectiveness, and employee development progress.
  • Support the implementation of individual development plans and career pathing.

Performance Management

  • Assist in facilitating performance review cycles, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, and year-end evaluations.
  • Support managers with performance improvement plans and coaching conversations.

HR Administration

  • Maintain and update employee records, contracts, and HR documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist manager with any administrative task required.

Employment Equity & Skills Development

  • Contribute to the implementation and tracking of the company’s Employment Equity Plan.
  • Assist with EE Committee coordination, meeting minutes, and reporting.
  • Support skills development initiatives, including WSP/ATR submissions and learnership coordination.

Employee Wellness & Engagement

  • Support the planning and execution of wellness programmes, awareness campaigns, and engagement activities.
  • Assist in measuring employee engagement through surveys and feedback mechanisms.

Process Improvement & Projects

  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and enhance employee experience.
  • Participate in HR projects such as policy reviews and change management initiatives.
  • Support internal audits and ensure readiness for external compliance checks.
