Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant IT qualification
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification
- Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1
- 5+ years’ experience in a web based application hosting environment
- Advanced knowledge of database administration
- 4+ years firewall administration experience
Core Skills:
- Specialist Linux Skills
- Web based application hosting on Linux and AWS
- Solid knowledge of Networking, TCP/IP and Routing
- Scripting and automation experience is a must
Advantageous Skills:
- AWS certified Sysops Administrator
- Microsoft 365 certification
- Red Hat Certified Engineer
- Docker environment administration skills
- Oracle WebLogic Administration Experience
- Windows Server System Administration Experience
Job Specifications
General Purpose:
Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure.
Main Roles and Responsibilities:
- Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilisation, throughput and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; establishing connections and firewalls
- Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor
- Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation
- Effectively monitoring and managing of server and related infrastructure
- Install and configure server infrastructure in accordance with AfriGIS standards
- Identify and communicate problem areas to management
- Protects organisation’s value by keeping information confidential
- Providing support to clients, both internal and external
- Interface with internal and external clients
- Support Office 365 and multiple solutions based on the Microsoft stack
- Implement security best practises
- Administer Web application Firewalls and Cloudflare environments
- Write and implement CI/CD processes
- Automate maintenance tasks whilst maintaining service levels
